The three tactics — and when to pick each

Your tactic is set before the match and follows your player into [tournaments](/en/tournaments) automatically as the default. The right tactic can turn an even match — the wrong one can cost a career.

Offensive — more shots, weaker protection

Offensive tactic maximises the shots you get per round, but you take more damage when the opponent counters. Pick it when your shot power and precision clearly beat the opponent's and you want to settle it early.

Defensive — fewer shots, harder to break

Defensive tactic makes you far harder to score on but gives fewer chances of your own. It suits enduring players with strong tackles: wear the opponent down and punish them with counters.

Normal — the balance

Normal is the neutral pick. When you do not know what the opponent built — or the attributes are even — normal minimises the risk both ways.

The give-up threshold

Whatever the tactic you can set a give-up threshold: when energy reaches that level the player leaves the pitch. You lose the match but avoid hospital. Against heavier opponents it is often worth a defeat.

Scout before you choose

Click an opponent in the player register to scout their gear and level before you challenge. Meet a heavy cannon build with defence; a fast but fragile player you punish with offence.

FAQ

Which tactic is best for beginners?
Normal. It minimises risk both ways while you learn the match engine. Switch to offensive or defensive once you know how your build stacks up.
Does my tactic apply automatically in tournaments?
Yes. Your standard tactic and give-up threshold are applied as defaults when you enter a tournament.
